The insulation is in.... and it's purple!!
If you want more information about the insulation we chose, you can read about it here.
It's interesting to see colour on the walls.
It definitely gives a different dynamic to the house.
Just filling the wall in that small amount already makes the rooms seem a little smaller.
The girls like it. Maybe they'll choose a similar colour for their room.
It has a very interesting texture.
The basement.
The boys room.
The hot water tank was delivered this week.
Locks and door handles are installed.
We have finally achieved lock up. At this stage, with all the gaps filled in, the fireplace (in the basement, on the lowest setting) is keeping the temperature of the house at about 10C (50F). Obviously, we will want it warmer than that when we are living there, but the temperature had been dipping down to -10C (14F) at night, so basically, we're just trying to keep it above freezing.
Remember when I said that we weren't expecting anymore big trucks up the driveway. I forgot about this one. Thankfully, it managed fine. As soon as the electrician comes back and does the final connections, we'll be on the grid.
Hello kitty!
The first big snow came down from the roof uneventfully, thankfully! As you can see, some snow gets trapped behind the sun pipes but it comes down eventually too.
More snow makes it more fun to pull your little sister in the sled.
Thank you Joey for giving our snowman a face.
And me? Well, I'm still stuck in this chair. We've moved our books from the kitchen table to this little ledge by my chair so we can continue school and accommodate my convalescence. It's nice to change things up a bit, if not, perhaps, under better circumstances.
So, we carry on. A little here, a little there. Big jumps some places, mostly smaller ones everywhere else. We are hoping that the drywall will go up this week. There is so many small jobs to be looked after that we are sometimes thankful for the breaks in between the bigger jobs.
Sometimes.
The hardest part for me right now, is sitting. Seeing so much work that needs to be done and not being able to do it. Doing what I can but knowing it's not very much. And trying to do it with a good attitude and a happy heart.
Let's just say I've got my work cut out for me this week.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Isaiah 26:3

Purple!!! How fun is that? It's been amazing to watch this process from my chair....you are all doing such a great job! What a beautiful home!! SO excited for you. :) Hang in there with that nasty set-back....you will be up and running in no time. XOXO
