Prince Edward Island

What a blessing it was for Ben to visit Prince Edward Island. Our friends moved there many years ago and we have kept in touch on a regular basis. It was only natural then, when Ben was invited out for a visit, that we would be so happy for him to go! It has been on my list of things to do to visit the provinces of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia for as long as I can remember. My family has roots in Nova Scotia (not to mention we have more friends there!!) and PEI? Well, it's just so beautiful (not to mention having friends there!!). In the meantime, I will have to be satisfied to live vicariously through Ben's pictures but one day I'll get there. One day!

They sure know how to make a guy feel welcome!

This!! This is where I want to stand and see the beautiful red soil of PEI...

...and feel the wind coming in off the ocean. Amazing!

Maybe eat some lunch here...

...after walking along the boardwalks.

The white sandy beaches...

...that seem to go on forever.

Separated from the water by a layer of ice, a chilly reminder that spring hasn't quite arrived.

How do you go to PEI and not visit Green Gables?

The house where  Lucy Maud Montgomery was inspired to write her famous story of Anne of Green Gables.

A beautiful view downton.

Enjoying some delicious cheesecake inside the vault at Samuel's Coffee House.

Skiing with a friend, perhaps?

Chairlift selfie!

Ben was fortunate enough to be visiting during maple season. He got to tap the tree and after the sap was boiled down, put the syrup in his coffee. Now that's fresh! And a  fun experience he will not soon forget.

Care to camp out under the stars when the temperatures are well below zero? (C) Well, it's not for everyone but they sure had a good time.

You can take the boy off the farm and put him on a different farm but there will still be chores for him to do. No matter! Chores are much more fun when done with friends!

After the chores are done, it's time to P.L.A.Y!! What else could you possibly do with a couch you find at the side of the road but pull it out to the middle and take pictures on it! Just mind the cars!!

BEST. PICTURE. EVER. !!!

Even heading back to the airport is memorable with another trip across the Confederation Bridge. If only saying goodbye wasn't so hard.

Back at home, Ben is still reluctant to wash the red PEI soil off his boots.

At the end of the day, it was a super fun trip for Ben and an amazing experience as well. Now, we just have to plan a reunion. And the sooner, the better!

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

  1. What FUN!!! SO happy that your Ben got to go! And...I didn't realise we had white sandy beaches in Canada...I learned something new. I'm impressed that Green Gables was on the list of things they did. I'd love to make it to the other side of our country...perhaps one day. Maybe with you? :) That photo of the three of them on the couch is crying out to be framed. Hugs to you all! Love, Camille

    1. Right? It still felt like I was sending my little boy off into the world. I know he's grown up but somehow it takes the heart a little bit longer to accept what the brain already knows. Sigh.
