Siding Part 2

The siding was a big job and it took longer than we anticipated. And life got a little busy there so I apologize for the wait. I will try to bring you up to date quickly!

Lydia gets a lesson in measuring flashing.

Ben and Matt take over on the lift and Phil cuts the siding. It goes much faster with 3 people!

The siding on the back of the house is mostly finished. The battens and the window frames still need to be put on but they might have to wait for a while. They can be done by ladder and we are trying to only do jobs necessary with the machine while it's here, like painting the flashing around the sun pipes.

Getting set up.

When the boom arrived, it wasn't exactly exterior painting weather so we were glad when the weather warmed up to 15C (60F) and they could paint them quickly. Here they are before.

And here they are after. Much better. We had wanted to paint them last year but it was too dangerous, in my opinion, just for something cosmetic. I'm glad it's done now.

The next day, they started on the gable end.

The weather couldn't last forever and eventually, the heavens opened up. Nothing like learning how to shingle in the pouring rain.

Phil worked on the ground, cutting the shingles to fit and Ben and Matt installed them.

Once the shingles were finished, it was time to install the flood light.

It works! It has a motion sensor which will be very convenient for when we arrive home after dark. It lights up this whole side of the house.

Dismantling the scaffold.

The electricians finally came and transferred power over to the new pump house.

To be continued...again...

But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
