This week was catch up week. You know all those jobs that need to be done but you just never get to? Yeah, that. It actually takes a lot of determination to get those jobs done. Depending on how long you've left them, it can be especially challenging. We didn't really have a choice though. Our plan for this weekend was to start laying the floor but the cork underlay we were expecting to arrive this week didn't make it here on time. And the flooring for bathrooms that was supposed to be here on Wednesday won't arrive now until the end of February. So odd jobs it is.
A make shift scaffold was set up so Matt could finish painting the stairwell.
Prepping the bathrooms for flooring.
Preparing the sub-floor. That large box is the pantry for the kitchen. We will have to work around it. It is huge and not going anywhere.
Installing the sub-floor..
Can't forget the closets.
This is the counter top for the bathrooms.
The vanity.
And the floor. I can't wait to see it altogether.
In preparation for the underlay, Phil has been sanding all of the seams of the sub-floor for a nice, even fit. We decided to go with cork for the underlay because of its sound dampening properties.
Can you see the rows of screws? No more squeaks!
Our room was the last to get the floor fixed. It's sanded now and ready for underlay.
It's getting crowded in the basement. We're trying to keep everything off the floors upstairs but you have to put it all somewhere. Kitchen, doors and closets on one side...
...and floors and molding on the other. Hoping to be able to start spreading these out throughout the house soon.
Carrying the tub from the master bathroom out. It is solid cast iron and I'm sure it weighs at least a ton. Thankful for many hands.
Stairwell is finished. Great job Matt!
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men.
