We having been waiting for the exterior doors for a long time. Our order was mixed up and because we weren't ready for them right away, we were fine to wait a while. And so we waited. And waited. It got kind of ridiculous actually. We were expecting them to come in the middle of May and we have been more than ready for them for a while now. Well, they arrived this week. Some of them. We are still missing the front door and the side panel. I'm afraid to even think about the interior door order. We are thankful for these doors though and we look forward to their installation and being able to officially consider ourselves at the 'lock up' stage.
These are the French doors that will go just off the dining area in the kitchen.
This is the side door and the basement door.
The basement stairs are almost ready for pouring concrete.
As is the basement. Some of the pipes have been covered with gravel and are ready for concrete.
The electrical cables still need to be covered with a layer of sand before they can be covered with gravel.
The black cable houses all of the electrical wiring and the white cable is the water line.
These orange tubes will hold the phone lines.
Lots of cable is needed.
We usually try to make time for fun family activities as well. Life goes on while we are building this house and we won't get this time back. It is important to us that the children have fond memories of this time along with all the hard work that everyone puts in.
Getting ready for a float down the river.
Oh yeah, I could get used to this view. I much prefer to see those cliffs from this angle.
Matt enjoying some much deserved R & R.
This is about as close as Phil gets to "floating" but he had a great time in the kayak.
This is the group I floated with.
Lydia is busy keeping up. She had so much fun!!
Ben and Abby are staying cool too. It was such a hot day.
Above or below the water, he's still the same.
Of course, how much fun would the day be if we couldn't find a way to take mom's breath away? Hannah joined the cliff jumpers this year.
Oh Matty, why?
We are very thankful for times of rest and just having fun together. There is a season for everything under the sun. A time to work and a time to rest. We enjoy each season and are thankful for the many blessings that the Lord has given us.
As I close out this post tonight, there is one other thing I'd like to mention. I've told you before that we are in a very dangerous position with wildfires this year. Our province currently has close to 300 wildfires burning, mostly caused by lightning and it is getting a little too close for comfort. We currently have two fires burning close to us. This was the view this evening.
This is the view to the east.
And this is the view to the west.
We know that forest fires are mostly a natural component of the landscape, however, they also bring devastation to those affected by them. We think tonight especially of those in evacuation zones and we also ask for the Lord's protection for all those affected by these fires, potentially us as well.
The Lord is good.
All the time.
Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
