Pumpkins and watermelon. I don't think they go in anything together except the wheelbarrow.
Vine ripened, just picked tomatoes with some fresh, homemade mozzarella. Now there is a yummy sandwich waiting to happen.
This one was the tallest.
Pulling up carrots.
You don't get to see these fun shapes at the grocery store!
More carrot fun!! These ones are h.u.g.e.!!
Nice size potatoes too!
Little Miss Sunshine!
What we have to show for our morning's work.
These sugar pumpkins are perfect for baking. I'm thinking pumpkin everything for the next few months!
And while visions of pumpkin pies dance in our heads, work carries on on the house...
Right now, the view out the front door is of a trench.
Water and electricity lines running from the well to the house.
They must be 3-4 feet below the surface to stay below the frost line.
It's fun to jump over them anyway.
Moving to the other side of the house. That looks precarious to me!
Digging the septic field turned out to be much more difficult than we planned. Remember this post? The reason we had to blast was evident again when we tried to dig for the septic field. Rocks! Huge rocks. Unmovable rocks. It took all day digging in different spots and then filling in said spots, to finally find a spot where the septic tank and field can go.
There has to be a special level of trust between you and your machine operator. Phil is protecting the water line.
This size of rock!
Phil and Ben "consulting" on the next step.
Everything has to be inspected by the children at the end of the day.
That is a deep hole. Considering what will be going in there, that's a good thing!!
The other angle. You can see where the bucket is scraping to get through.
Time for a selfie. Or a groupie as the case may be.
Yes, it's leaving. No, we aren't finished. It was booked somewhere else the next day. Now we wait until it's free again. Which is hopefully soon!
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Genesis 8:22

Great post full of adventures! I like seeing the different angles of work happening around your home. And...yippee for all that produce!!! What a blessing. XOXO
ReplyDeleteThanks Camille! I enjoy taking the pictures. We take lots because Ben is also making a slide show of the whole process. Sped up of course! It will be interesting to see it all from start to finish in 5 minutes or so. :-) Hugs to you!! Amazing blog post you wrote today! You are a very gifted (blessed) writer!
DeleteThat garden haul looks amazing!!!!!!!! Well done on finding time to have a healthy garden, build a house, run a household, and still have a few moments to play every now and then (and deal with emergencies along the way, too). All in all a very blessed summer indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Very blessed, yes! So thankful for the Lord's goodness! Pretty sure I added a few extra grey hairs as well, lol, but worth it, for sure.
